Flag Retirement Ceremony

Flag Retirement Ceremony Flyer

Following the tragic events of September 11 the Elizabeth Gordon Bradley Chapter joined forces with the McLennan County Veterans Association and the City of Woodway to honor our flag, our veterans, patriots and first responders with a special ceremony that is now held each year during Veterans Appreciation Week on the Sunday following Veterans Day. What could be more fitting than to fulfill the recommendation of the U.S. Flag Code by properly disposing of national and state flags as well as service flags representing our nation's Army, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and the Prisoner of War (POW)/Missing in Action (MIA) flags that have become tattered, torn, faded, or worn. This ceremony is held each year during Veterans Appreciation Week on the Sunday following Veterans Day.

You may find out more information at our Facebook Event page!

We accept flags year round so please feel free to bring your worn flags to the Carleen Bright Arboretum so they may be retired with the dignity and respect they deserve!
