  • Accessory Structure Permit (PDF): sheds, buildings, carports, covered patios, etc. that are detached and located more than five feet from the primary structure
  • Commercial/Industrial Remodel Permit (PDF): non-residential remodels and additions, including all work attached to, or within five feet of, the primary structure; building permit will not be granted until Application to Develop process has been completed or deemed unnecessary by City, although concurrent review of plans may be possible (contact Community Services and Development for more information); all trade work (plumbing, gas, electrical, mechanical/HVAC) and accessory structures (buildings/pools) require separate permits.
  • Commercial/Industrial New Construction Permit (PDF): new non-residential structures (primary structures only - not for remodels/additions/accessory structures); building permit will not be granted until Application to Develop process has been completed, although concurrent review of plans may be possible (contact Community Services and Development for more information); all trade work (plumbing, gas, electrical, mechanical/HVAC) and accessory structures (buildings/pools) require separate permits
  • Commercial Electrical/Water Release Permit (PDF): for new business owners/tenants needing a release of electrical service to Oncor and/or water service to the City; serves as verification of Zoning Ordinance compliance, safety check for electrical service, and backflow/cross-connection safety check for water service
  • Commercial Parking Lot Permit (PDF): for the installation of or addition to parking lots of non-residential properties; may require Application to Develop (contact Community Services and Development for more information)
  • Demolition Permit (PDF): removal of structures (not typically required for sheds/portable buildings)
  • Drive Approach Permit (PDF): replacement or addition of drive approach attached to City street (City does not require permits for flatwork poured beyond the drive approach, i.e. driveway expansion, uncovered patios)
  • Electrical Permit (PDF): all electrical work, unless specifically excepted by Building Inspector; requires contractor with valid Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor Licenses or homeowner with valid Homestead Exemption
  • Gas Permit (PDF): natural gas and propane yard lines, repairs, and in-structure installations (propane tank permits and inspections are handled by Fire Marshal); requires contractor with valid Responsible Master Plumbing license or other appropriate gas installer license or homeowner with valid Homestead Exemption
  • Grading Site Preparation Permit (PDF): grading, scrubbing, fill work, and/or site preparation; sites greater than or equal to one acre require a permit for this work (for smaller lots, contact Community Services and Development for confirmation)
  • Irrigation Permit (PDF): new installations and repair/replacements on existing systems, including backflow devices; will require valid backflow test upon completion
  • Mechanical Permit (PDF): all mechanical/HVAC work, including new installations and change-outs; requires a contractor with valid Mechanical license or homeowner with valid Homestead Exemption
  • Plumbing Permit (PDF): all plumbing work, including new installations, yard line repairs/replacements, water heater change-outs, and plumbing for remodels, unless specifically excepted by Building Inspector; requires contractor with valid Responsible Master Plumbing license or homeowner with valid Homestead Exemption
  • Pods and Portable Storage Containers Permit (PDF): temporary storage containers; may not be placed in the street per Public Safety Department; permit duration limits listed on application, and permit must be renewed after 30 days
  • Residential New Construction Permit (PDF): new single and multi-family dwellings (primary structures only - not for remodels/additions/accessory structures); all trade work (plumbing, gas, electrical, mechanical/HVAC) and accessory structures (buildings/pools) require separate permits
  • Residential Remodel Permit (PDF): residential remodels and additions, including all work attached to, or within five feet of, the primary structure; all trade work (plumbing, gas, electrical, mechanical/HVAC) and accessory structures (buildings/pools) require separate permits.
  • Roofing Permit (PDF): all roofing replacements, recovers, and repairs
  • Sign Permit (PDF): all new sign installations and face changes, including temporary banners for special events
  • Swimming Pool/Spa Permit (PDF): all swimming pool and/or spa/hot tub installations, including above-ground pools and portable spas/hot tubs
